According to the fast statistical data released by Shanghai International Port Group on January 1, 2023, the container throughput of Shanghai Port in 2022 exceeded 47.3 million TEUs, ranking first in the world for thirteen consecutive years.

It is reported that Shanghai International Port Group achieved a good start in production in the first quarter of 2022. In July 2022, container throughput rebounded in a V-shape, reaching a record high for the same period at 4.303 million TEUs.

At the same time, the day and night container throughput of Shanghai Port on September 8 and 11, 2022, broke through the 160,000 and 170,000 TEU mark respectively, setting a new record for day and night container throughput of 170,173 TEU, and successively refreshed a number of records including single shift container throughput, single ship container operation volume, and single terminal day and night container throughput.

While container throughput has repeatedly reached new highs, in 2022, Shanghai Port has also continued to make efforts in new technological breakthroughs, new regional development, and new business development. It has launched a combination of business measures such as upgrading land to water, optimizing sea-rail transport, water-to-water transshipment, and ICT pre-positioning to stabilize the supply chain, assist enterprises, ensure supply and smooth traffic, and open up green channels for ports for important production and daily necessities.

In addition, in 2022, Shanghai Port boldly tried new development methods. Shanghai International Port Group and China COSCO Shipping Group established a joint venture to establish a new comprehensive service platform for pulp and paper suppliers, create a closed online supply chain system from ships to customer factories, and jointly build a new pulp and paper supply chain ecosystem.

In 2022, Shanghai International Port Group also participated in the launch of a national bulk commodity warehouse receipt registration center with nine other units including China Logistics Group and China COSCO Shipping Group. Focusing on the three major areas of bulk commodity data management, blockchain warehouse receipt services, and market information release, it will build a registration system with unified standards, standardized security, high efficiency and convenience, and nationwide coverage, providing centralized registration, query and other services for bulk commodity warehouse receipts across the country.
