FedEx may impose demand surcharges when volume growth, demand for capacity increases, operating costs rise and other pressures on our operating network occur.

Surcharge outside delivery area/outside collection area

For international express heavy cargo services and international express parcel services, the rates for out-of-range delivery surcharges and out-of-range pickup surcharges are determined based on the corresponding level of the postal code or city of the shipment's origin and/or destination location.

If international shipments are delivered to or picked up from remote areas listed in the Out of Range Delivery Surcharge and Out of Area Pick Up Surcharge postal code lists, a regional-level rate will apply. Additional fee.

additional service charge

Effective January 15, 2024, FedEx will impose an additional service fee per eligible package (rather than per shipment) within a multi-pack international shipment.

Any package that meets the following criteria will be subject to an additional service fee:

size

  1. The maximum side length of the package exceeds 121 cm;

  2. The second largest side of the package exceeds 76 cm; or

  3. The length and circumference are greater than 266 cm (length + width x2 + height x2).

weight

  1. Actual weight is greater than 31 kg.

Package

  1. Not completely wrapped in a courier box;

  2. Wrapped in a courier box of non-corrugated cardboard, corrugated cardboard material including but not limited to metal, wood, canvas, leather, hard plastic, soft plastic or foam plastic;

  3. Use stretch and shrink film to wrap express boxes;

  4. Mailing of round or cylindrical items, including but not limited to tubes, cans, barrels, rollers, tires, drums or pails;

  5. The package is bundled with metal, plastic or cloth strips; or the package contains wheels, casters, handles or ropes (e.g. bicycles) (including packages with loose or protruding outer surfaces); or

  6. May cause entanglement, damage to other packages or FedEx's sorting system.

FedEx reserves the right to charge additional handling fees for packages that require special handling or that require additional packaging by FedEx during shipping.

If a package meets 2 or all 3 additional service fee criteria (size, weight and packaging), whichever is higher.

Package shape and dimensions may change during shipping, which may affect shipment surcharges. If dimensions change during shipping, FedEx may make appropriate adjustments to the charges for your shipment at any time.

Heavy cargo

If any heavy shipment is handled with a maximum side length exceeding 157 cm, a surcharge will be charged to the shipment. 

FedEx reserves the right to charge additional handling fees for heavy shipments and heavy packages that require special handling during transportation. 

Oversized shipment charges

If the length of a packageExceeding 243 cm or lengthIf the circumference (length + width x2 + height x2) exceeds 330 cm, an oversize shipment fee will be charged to the package. 

Package shape and dimensions may change during shipping, which may affect package surcharges. If dimensions change during shipping, FedEx may make appropriate adjustments to charges for your shipment at any time.

/Length is defined as the longest side of the package.

Non-stacked shipment surcharge

This surcharge applies to any non-stackable shipment, meaning if any single piece, slide or pallet cannot be stacked vertically in a safe and secure manner, this surcharge is charged. Examples include, but are not limited to, non-stackable shipment handling with the following characteristics:

  1. No flat and stable top or base;

  2. If another package is added to such heavy shipment, it may be damaged; or

  3. The loading surface is flat and stable, but too narrow to safely and securely support other heavy cargo handling (e.g. 1-2 rollers or drums).
