Maersk has announced adjustments to the Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for its Far East to Latin America routes, effective July 10.
Fee Standard
- $1,000/20 ft dry box
- $1,000/20 ft cold box
Destinations covered: Mexico, West Coast of South America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
Actual impact
Logistics costs on the Far East-Latin America route have increased for several consecutive rounds. After this adjustment, the peak season surcharge for a 20-foot container has reached $1,000. Coupled with the base freight rate and other surcharges, the cost per container has further increased.
For export companies targeting markets such as Mexico, Chile, Peru, and Colombia, shipping costs will increase significantly after July 10th. If shipments can be arranged in advance, it is recommended to complete bookings before July 10th.
