In view of the significant impact of the new coronavirus on the global air transport industry, in order to continue to provide you and your customers with high-quality and stable services, DHL Express launched the Emergency Situation Surcharge (ESS) in early April.

Since the global outbreak of the new coronavirus, the DHL team has been working around the clock to continuously adjust our global network to better adapt to the development of the epidemic, epidemic prevention policies, and changes in capacity and demand.

Adjustment of emergency surcharge

As market conditions continue to change as the coronavirus continues to develop, we will be reducing the amount of our emergency surcharge effective July 1, 2020.

The adjustment of this surcharge reflects the changing market environment and air transport capacity. In view of the expected decrease in additional transportation costs originating from mainland China and Hong Kong, China, we will reduce the surcharge amount for the following routes:

  • Shipping from mainland China to Europe/America/other countries: From RMB 14 per kilogram to RMB 7 per kilogram
  • Shipping from Mainland China/Hong Kong to Australia/New Zealand: From RMB 14 per kg to RMB 13 per kg
