Before booking space, shippers/consignees must obtain prior approval from the UAE Security Industry Regulatory Authority (SIRA).
Recently, ONE announced on its official website that according to the latest statement from the UAE Securities Industry Regulatory Authority (SIRA), Jebel Ali Port will impose stricter restrictions on the import and export of hazardous chemicals (DG).
For the import and export of such goods, the shipper/consignee must obtain SIRA's approval in advance before booking space.
This approval document must also be attached to the booking form along with documents such as Dangerous Goods Declaration (DGD), Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) etc. to avoid problems when seeking approval from EHS (Environmental Health and Safety Department).
ONE said that containers that are imported or exported without EHS approval will be considered as violations and will be subject to corresponding penalties.
The process of importing dangerous goods into the UAE is as follows:
1,The shipper/consignee should prepare the SIRA approval document and provide relevant documents (sample attached);
2,Before a ship carrying hazardous chemicals arrives at a port, it must obtain approval from EHS;
3.When the details of the cargo and the importer/exporter match the approval documents from SIRA, the loading is confirmed.
It is understood that Jebel Ali Port is the world's largest man-made port and one of the busiest ports in the Middle East. It is located in a strategic location in Dubai, UAE, and connects more than 150 ports around the world. The port is also adjacent to Dubai's largest free trade zone, the Jebel Ali Free Trade Zone (JAFZA).
