Railway freight industry hits record highs in many indicators

Recently, China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. released data showing that from January to June this year, the national railway freight volume continued to maintain a high level, with a total of 1.946 billion tons shipped, an increase of 102 million tons and 5.5% year-on-year. Many indicators such as the average daily freight volume set historical records.

Such achievements are inseparable from the railway freight supply capacity that has hit a record high. Since the beginning of this year, railway investment has remained stable. New lines and stations such as the Zhengzhou-Chongqing High-speed Railway Xiangwan Section, the Jinan-Zhengzhou High-speed Railway Puzheng Section, the Heruo Railway, and the Beijing Fengtai Station have been opened and operated, and the railway passenger and freight capacity has been greatly improved. The railway department has taken advantage of the national railway "one network" and centralized and unified dispatching and command, coordinated the use of line, locomotive and vehicle resources, and made full use of the transportation capacity released by the suspension of some passenger cars to cooperate with epidemic prevention. The battle to increase freight volume has been carried out in depth, and the railway freight capacity has been expanded to the maximum extent. The artery of the national economy has been unblocked, and sufficient railway transportation capacity has been provided to stabilize the economy and help resume work and production. From January to June, the national railway completed an average of 178,000 cars per day, an increase of 10,000 cars and an increase of 5.9% year-on-year. Many indicators such as daily cargo shipments, freight turnover, number of loading and unloading have repeatedly set historical records.

As the main force in the transportation of bulk materials, the railway department resolutely defended the bottom line, continued to carry out the action of ensuring the supply of electric coal, and "fully met and fully loaded" the transportation demand for electric coal. It made good use of the main channel capacity of transporting coal from the north to the south and from the west to the east, and increased the export of coal from the main production areas such as Shaanxi, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, and Xinjiang. The coal transportation volume of Haoji, Tangbao, and Wanji railways increased by 49.5%, 13.6%, and 25.6% respectively year-on-year. In response to the tight supply of electric coal in some areas, 15 batches of electric coal supply dispatch orders were issued successively, and more than 272 power plants in 13 provinces were accurately guaranteed to solve the "coal" emergency. From January to June, the national railway sent 1.04 billion tons of coal, a year-on-year increase of 7.9%; of which 690 million tons of electric coal, a year-on-year increase of 9.1%. As of June 30, 363 railway-supplied power plants across the country had 64.64 million tons of coal in stock, which could be consumed for 25.4 days, maintaining a high level.

Previously, affected by the epidemic, transportation across the country was blocked, especially road transportation. To this end, the railway department insisted on providing front-line services and actively connecting to ensure smooth and efficient supply and stable supply chains. By strengthening communication and coordination with local governments and key enterprises, dynamically grasping transportation needs, carefully formulating logistics plans, scientifically allocating transportation capacity, opening up green channels, and giving priority to loading, hanging and unloading of key materials related to the national economy and people's livelihood, strengthening the connection at both ends, ensuring rapid delivery, unblocking logistics circulation, and ensuring the urgent needs of people's production and life. From January to June, the national railway sent 88.26 million tons of agricultural materials such as grain and fertilizers, an increase of 15.9% year-on-year. Efficiently complete the transportation tasks of aiding Hong Kong, Shanghai and Jilin, and use customized special trains, high-speed rail express and luggage cars to transport epidemic prevention and daily necessities to key cities in a timely manner, effectively alleviating the supply tension.

While the number of freight shipments has risen against the trend, the quality of railway freight services has also been continuously improved. By actively promoting "road to rail" transportation, vigorously developing multimodal transport, and closely connecting road, sea, inland waterway and other modes of transportation, the comprehensive railway transportation service capacity has been greatly enhanced. From January to June, the national railway container loaded an average of 41,702 cars per day and sent 15.08 million standard containers, an increase of 19.9% and 19.7% respectively year-on-year. The railway-water combined transport completed 5.69 million standard containers, an increase of 31.1% year-on-year. The railway freight business has completed digital transformation, and the 95306 freight e-commerce platform has maintained stable operation. A total of 25 million freight orders have been handled online, involving 1.9 billion tons of goods.

While striving to ensure the stability of domestic transportation, the railway department has also actively promoted the steady progress of international intermodal transport and made positive contributions to the stability of the international industrial chain and supply chain. Give full play to the role of the China-Europe Express as a strategic channel, make good use of the capacity of the western, central and eastern channels, actively promote the expansion and transformation of ports such as Alashankou, Erlianhot and Manzhouli, strengthen cooperation with the railway departments of countries along the route, open up a new southern route to Europe, achieve stable operation of the China-Europe Express, and help build the "Belt and Road" with high quality. From January to June, a total of 7,473 China-Europe trains were launched and 720,000 standard containers were shipped, an increase of 2% and 2.6% respectively year-on-year, and the comprehensive heavy box rate reached 98%. The scheduled routes of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor sea-rail intermodal container trains have increased from 9 to 12, and a total of 379,000 standard containers of goods have been shipped, an increase of 33.4% year-on-year, maintaining a strong growth trend.
