In the previous preferential activities for shipping to India, many new and old customers asked a lot of questions about customs clearance for exporting to India. This issue will focus on some points to note when it comes to customs clearance documents for exporting to India.

Please fill in the recipient's phone number correctly. | All shipments must include the consignee’s mobile phone number and email address in the consignee details section of the Air Waybill (AWB). The specified mobile number should be 10 digits long without a “0” prefix or country code (+91) |
Complete the commercial invoice | Note the following points:
1. Valid email and contact information of the importer (full name and phone number/valid email address. Details of the sender and receiver should be the same as on the waybill). 2. Complete and detailed description of the products (general descriptions are not allowed, please describe each product separately). 3. Correct quantities and units of measurement. 4. The correct value of each commodity (including currency) and the HS CODE of each commodity (goods with under-declared value will be re-evaluated and fined). 5. International trade terms (e.g. FOB, CIF). 6. Shipping and insurance charges are listed separately. 7. Clearly list the payment method. 8. The commercial invoice needs to be stamped and signed by the sender. 9. For physical businesses, the IOR’s Importer Exporter Code (IEC) and Goods and Services Tax Identification Number (GSTIN) must match the shipping documents. |
Provide KYC documents | The consignee needs to provide KYC documents before or upon arrival of the goods. KYC documents include the consignee's identity/address, authorization letter, etc. The consignee's name/company name on the invoice and waybill must match the KYC documents. It is recommended that the sender send the KYC link to the consignee as early as possible, and the consignee can also find it from the following FAQ and work instructions.

Items sent to individuals | Shipments to individuals: A copy of Permanent Account Number (PAN) and Aadhar/Passport is required. The name on the invoice and waybill must match the PAN and Aadhar/Passport details. |
