State Council Approves Expansion of Dandong Port’s Opening
Next, Dandong Port will advance construction of supporting infrastructure for the port’s expanded opening, making full use of its location as the most convenient seaport in eastern Northeast China.
Recently, the State Council officially approved the expansion of Dandong Port’s opening to foreign trade. The approved area includes 63,926 meters of shoreline in the Dadong Port Area, with a total of 18 berths.
Approval for Dandong Port’s expanded opening will have a positive and far-reaching impact on foreign engagement, international exchanges, and trade and economic cooperation in the “Yellow Sea Wing” of Liaoning’s coastal economic belt. It will also provide new momentum for the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China.

Dandong Port is located at the center of the Northeast Asian Economic Circle and on the eastern stretch of the Bohai Rim Economic Belt. It is China’s northernmost international trade seaport. The port currently has 24 berths, of which four are open to foreign trade.
The expanded opening of Dandong Port will help Dandong industries access international markets by sea and significantly improve cost efficiency for businesses in the hinterland of eastern Northeast China. It is also a practical step toward helping Liaoning Port Group build a world-class strong port.
Next, Dandong Port will advance construction of supporting infrastructure for the port’s expanded opening and complete the acceptance inspection as soon as possible. Making full use of its location as the most convenient seaport in eastern Northeast China, it will pursue opening-up and cooperation on a broader scale, across more fields, and at greater depth; launch new shipping routes; and expand into new business areas. These efforts will provide strong support for building a new development paradigm featuring domestic and international dual circulation and promoting regional economic and social development.
